St Andrews Links Trust
The Home of Golf Hub, St Andrews
A new, multifunctional community space offering a unique window into the work of St Andrews Links Trust.
The Home of Golf Hub is a welcoming destination on historic Market Street, offering residents and visitors an insight into the work of St Andrews Links Trust. Just minutes from the Old Course, the restored 1860 building brings together golf heritage, exhibitions, visitor information, tee-time booking and retail.
Having worked with VisitScotland and Fife Council on the property over the past 15 years, Izon Projects had an in-depth understanding of the building. This enabled us to advise the Trust on its suitability and potential constraints from the earliest planning stages. Our ability to manage the project from pre-lease discussions through to final handover was a key advantage.
Izon had previously decommissioned the former VisitScotland iCentre, returning the property to the landlord as an empty shell. Working closely with the Trust, our design team created initial 3D concepts before developing detailed proposals for planning, listed building and advertising consent, supported by a full set of building-services drawings.
Our technical team also produced the specifications and drawings for the bespoke joinery package. The Trust’s brand guidelines informed the entire interior, from the carefully matched paint palette to the flooring, finishes and joinery.
Solid oak herringbone flooring was paired with natural walnut and Corian joinery, while gold detailing inspired by the Trust’s logo brought the scheme together. Izon also developed the furniture, fixtures and equipment package, adding the final touches.
Externally, the building is finished in the elegant Evening Sky paint colour, with three-dimensional sandstone colour lettering above the entrance. Inside, visitors are welcomed by a quiet library nook and a personalisation area at the front of the retail space.
An archway lined with photographs from the Links Lens competition leads into a dramatic double-height space flooded with natural light. The rear of the Hub includes relaxed seating, a photography area, community wall, exhibition space, membership counter and branded pod for creating social media content.
The Home of Golf Hub was officially opened by Scottish professional golfer and former Open champion Paul Lawrie.
